Dr. Claudia Ramirez Wiedeman is Director of Education (Acting) at USC Shoah Foundation. Before joining the Institute, Dr. Wiedeman held a tenured professorship at Whittier College where she taught in the education department. She earned her PhD in education and applied linguistics in 1998 from the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Ramirez Wiedeman oversees the day-to-day management of the Education Department, strategic planning and oversees the Institute’s evaluation program. Her specialties include educator professional development, curriculum development, equity & diversity studies, and trans-media literacy. She has presented and published in peer-reviewed journals on teacher persistence, equity and diversity, testimony and intercultural dialogue and bilingualism. Dr. Ramirez Wiedeman’s work has been awarded grant support from the United States Department of Education and the John Randolph Haynes and Dora Haynes Foundation.
